Marek Lavko
About the Artist
Marek is a Liberec-based artist whose work transcends traditional techniques and conventions. ( Czech Republic)
He paints without brushes — using his distinctive layering and pouring method to let color, gravity, and motion shape the final image.
Each canvas becomes a living surface where emotion, energy, and chance merge into something raw and deeply human.
The Technique
Through a process of layered pouring, Marek applies acrylic paints directly from cups or cans onto a horizontal canvas. He relies entirely on gravity, movement, and timing rather than on painterly tools. This approach allows the colors to flow, merge, and settle naturally, creating organic forms, subtle textures, and unexpected harmonies — each piece impossible to reproduce. The result is a synthesis of control and spontaneity: a dialogue between intention and the unpredictable.
Inspiration and Journey
Marek began painting in 2010, during his years in Mumbai, a city pulsating with spirituality and energy. There, he created his first works, held his first exhibition, and met his first collectors. Since then, his life has been a continuous journey through cultures and continents — from Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia to Frankfurt, Dublin, and Paris, each place leaving its mark on his artistic vision.
Though he has attended drawing and painting courses in Mumbai and Paris, Marek considers himself largely self-taught — an artist who paints from the heart. His art reflects his travels, encounters, and emotions — a constant search for balance between chaos and calm, form and freedom.
Themes and Expression
Working primarily with acrylics, Marek’s focus lies in portraits and abstractions, often exploring the duality of black and white and the contrast between clarity and mystery.
His paintings are both intimate and monumental, inviting viewers to feel rather than simply observe.
Exhibitions and Presence
Marek’s works are part of private collections around the world — in Mumbai, New Delhi, Sri Lanka, Kuala Lumpur, Ho Chi Minh City, Cairo, São Paulo, Chicago, Bratislava, Prague, Madrid, Dublin, Paris, and Liberec.

Philosophy
“I don’t paint what I see — I paint what I feel.
The paint itself becomes my voice.”
Marek’s art speaks through flow, contrast, and emotion — embodying his lifelong motto:
Uniqueness. Depth. Passion.
